Kicking off the first in a series of before and after posts on our house renovations! My husband and I bought a fixer upper shortly after we were married. We have worked really hard the past three years to make it just how we want it. The house was vacant when we purchased it, and it needed ALOT of love. While the work wasn't always fun, we are so happy with the results and I can't wait to share them with you!
Let me first say that renovating a house isn't for the faint of heart. I didn't really realize all that we were getting into when we purchased the house. Some thought that we were crazy to renovate a house together during our first year of marriage, but we learned so much about working together, and it really helped improve our communication skills. I also learned how much I like wine! :) Maybe I will write a post later on lessons we learned through the process? Anyways, back to the dining room before & after!

AFTER:
The dining room started out pretty bland with ugly green walls.
We love to entertain and host dinner parties so I really wanted a big dining room that would accommodate that. I love the look of formal dining rooms, but I also wanted it to be comfortable enough that Tristan and I could enjoy our dinner there each night. We often need more than 6 chairs so I love the look and convenience of the corner chairs that can be pulled around the table to make room for more.
I debated back and forth on the paint color but I am so happy with that we chose. Most of the decor in the house is distressed white / rustic theme so I think the pop of color really turned out nice. It's subtle enough to blend with everything, but adds a nice touch.
We also restained all of the hardwoods in our house, and I think that is one thing that made the biggest difference!
Next in the series will be my favorite renovation we completed- the kitchen! Stay tuned!
