Five-On-Friday

Friday, October 28, 2016

BUSY. That pretty much sums up our life lately, but I've come to terms with that's just how our life is. Busy is our normal, but I guess it beats sitting around, right? We have the next few weekends at home and I couldn't be more excited to slow things down as we head into the holiday season.

Here's a quick five-on-Friday for you!

{ one } Two weekends ago I went down to Branson, MO with my husband's mom, sister, aunt and cousin. We spent the entire weekend Christmas shopping. It's their annual tradition, and my second time participating. I went down so unprepared- I mean it's only October so holiday shopping hadn't even crossed my mind. But, I'm happy to report we are now more than 1/2 way done with Christmas shopping and now I'm counting the days until Christmas!

{two } Speaking of Christmas- my mind has also started brainstorming for the holiday season. What do you guys want to see on the blog for the holidays? Gift guides? Recipes? Christmas decor home tour? Table decor ideas? Let me know in the comments below!

{ three } When I find something I love, I want to share it with all or you. That was kind of my whole intent/ goal of this blog was to share all of my favorite things. In the spirit of that, I HAVE to tell you about my new favorite dry shampoo. I'm quite certain that I will never find one that works as well as the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day. I'm not kidding. I typically go about every other day with washing my hair, but still feel like on day 2 my hair doesn't look great. The dry shampoos I have used in the past help a little, but it still looks like I need to wash my hair.

I've heard so much rave about this shampoo so I decided to give it a try. Life changing. I went 4 DAYS without washing my hair, and probably could've gone another 2 if I really wanted to. Seriously guys, try it. It also has great fragrance in it which I loved! Oh and don't worry, I still shower everyday- just don't wash my hair :)

{ four }  Another great find lately has been a product called Head Ease. It is a blend of essential oils: peppermint, lavender, wintergreen, frankincense, marjoram, and rosemary. The blend is specifically designed to reduce inflammation that cause migraines and headaches. I am someone who has suffered from migraines my entire life, and I probably depend on ibuprofen/ excedrin migraine more than I would like to admit. I've been trying to cut back on that and find natural remedies to treat the pain so I ordered this off amazon. The other night I came home from work with a tension headache/ migraine and instead of taking medicine, I rubbed this on my temples and on the back of my neck where the tension was. I was overcome with such  tingly feeling and within 30 minutes my headache has subsided. I was thrilled! I am now ordering like 5 more of these little bottles to stash in my purse, my desk, my car, you get the picture. I highly recommend it if you too suffer from migraines and tension headaches.

{ five } Last weekend Tristan and I went down to Baton Rouge, LA for the LSU VS. Ole Miss game. I've always loved football and have always been intrigued with football in the south. We had the opportunity with Tristan's work to travel down for the game and we were both so excited! The stadium was insane- holds around 100,000 people. The biggest stadium I have ever been to. Everyone was so nice and welcoming and the game was a blast. I can now cross a football game in the south off my bucket list!

What are you all up to this weekend? Hope you all have a great one!

Fall Wedding

Wednesday, October 26, 2016

Two of our very best friends got married this past weekend in Kansas City. It was such a beautiful wedding for an even more beautiful couple. You know those friends you have that you can always count on to be there, or can call them up on a whim for a weekend away or impromptu date night? Well they are that for Tristan and I, and we couldn't be more thankful for their friendship.

I knew I wanted to get a new dress for their wedding and all of the festivities, but I didn't feel like breaking the bank. One of my favorite stores in college was Forever 21. I always could find so many cute things at such affordable prices. I hadn't shopped their in awhile but decided to browse online at their dresses. I was stunned, they had SO MANY CHOICES!

I ended up ordering three dresses (oops) and was planning to only keep my favorite for the wedding, and one for the rehearsal. I ended up keeping all three (again, oops!).

This one was perfect for the rehearsal. I loved that it was flowy and played into the cold shoulder trend with the lace. I have a feeling I will wear this dress time and time again!

For the wedding I was left with two options. Blue navy lace, or black lacy dress. I ended up going with the black lacy dress because I felt like it was more formal. I got SO many compliments on it and people were shocked to find out it was only $28 from Forever 21. When I find such a good deal, I can't help but share it with all of you- so do yourself a favor and go buy this dress! You won't regret it. I am wearing a size small and was happy with how it fit me.

Just please, whatever you do, DO NOT wear white to a wedding. Or any type of wedding event- bridal shower, engagement party, rehearsal dinner- just don't do it :) The only exception is if it is requested by the bride.

Fall Must Have Cardigan

Friday, October 14, 2016

Outfit Details: Cardigan | Jeans | Boots | Sunglasses

Happy Friday, friends! I will sharing the rest of our Colorado trip next week, but I had to pop in today and share this cardigan with you. I purchased this cardigan from Nordstrom in the late summer and couldn't wait for the temperatures to drop so I could wear it. Unfortunately it had still been pretty warm in KC, so I was so excited to bust this out in Colorado!

It is the perfect weight so it isn't too hot but heavy enough to keep you warm. I'm excited to wear it all throughout the fall. I think it would be cute paired with a dress and boots, too!

It is currently out of stock (sorry!) but Nordstrom constantly restocks it so keep checking back!

We were in Colorado right as the trees were changing colors and I seriously couldn't get over how beautiful they were, I can't wait to show you the rest of the pictures although they don't do it justice.

What are you all up to this weekend? Hope you have a fabulous one!

Black & White for Fall

Wednesday, September 28, 2016

Shoes: Jessica Simpson | Jeans: Old Navy Mid-Rise Rockstar Skinnies | Flannel: Forever 21- Similar here | Purse: Kate Spade- Old by similar here

The weather here in KC is finally starting to feeling like fall! The morning air is getting cooler and you can actually be outside without sweating. While it still isn't cool enough to whip out scarfs and run around in boots, I am starting to incorporate some of fall favorites like flannels. I love look of an over-sized flannel button up dressed down with leggings and boots (for later in the season) or dressed up with skinny jeans and heels for a casual date night.

This flannel is from Forever 21 and I just ordered a few sizes up so that it would be a bit larger and allow me to tie it at the waist.

Fall Booties Under $50

Wednesday, September 14, 2016

Once September hits and the morning air starts to cool, I immediately start digging out all of my boots and booties. My daily uniform in the fall is comfy denim, booties, and typically an oversized cardigan or flannel button-up.

Side note- I just purchased my first pair of Paige denim jeans (link here) and I'm obsessed. Denim is one of the things I will invest in because I wear them everyday to work and jeans are something that will last forever. For most other clothing items I typically favor the deals vs splurging. If you are looking for a new brand of jeans to try, I highly recommend the Paige collection.

Anyways, back to booties. There are so many colors and styles out there and it's fun to have different pairs for different outfits. Lots of options doesn't mean breaking the bank, though. I have rounded up 12 different booties that are all UNDER $50! Music to my ears :)

Five Beauty Products I'm Loving

Friday, September 2, 2016

For today's Five-On-Friday I am sharing five beauty products that I am currently loving! I'm sort of a product junkie and spend many lunch breaks wandering around Sephora. Here are five new products I've recently tried and have become a staple in my routine!

{ one } Grape Seed Oil- Grape Seed Oil can be used for more than just cooking! I have read numerous benefits of "oil-cleansing" and using natural oil to wash your face. The thought of putting oil on a very acne-prone face made me really nervous. I've struggled with acne my whole life (I will do a full post on this soon) and am always looking for new products, so I figured why not try it! I ended up loving it! Not only is this cheaper than buying actual make-up remover but I think it does a better job. I simply put this on a cotton ball and remove my make-up before I wash my face. It has made a huge difference!

{ two } Collagen Eye Masks- Some nights I get a full 8 hours of sleep. Some nights I struggle to get 6 and it shows. The older I get, the more visible my dark under eye circles are. That's where these collagen eye masks come into play. I simply put these babies under my eyes for 10 minutes and it really helps reduce the puffiness and dark circles.

{ three } Clarifying Clark Mask- As mentioned above, I'm always looking for new products for my face. I recently stumbled upon Murad products and I LOVE them. They are all amazing and have made a huge difference in my face. I try to do this mask every Sunday. It helps draw out impurities and even your overall texture. I also use this as spot treatment when I have a blemish. It helps decrease the redness and healing time.

{ four } Living Proof Shampoo/ Conditioner- My two biggest complaints about my hair are that it gets oily really fast and its frizzy. Especially with all of this humidity. I kept reading about Living Proof products and their claims to make your wash last longer and to eliminate frizz. I was pleasantly surprised that I found their claims to be true!

{ five } Mary Kay Lash Intensity Mascara - I am very picky about my mascara. My sister-in-law recently started selling Mary Kay so I've been trying out some of their products. Mary Kay just released this mascara and it is AMAZING! The mascara has a special double-impact brush that is designed to plump while combing through to lengthen the look of the lashes. I highly recommend it! Her website is here if you are interested in trying some new products.

What are you all up to this weekend? I hope you have a great one!

H&M Dress- HERE- Currently on sale for $9.99!
Target Shoes: HERE- they are so comfy!
Necklace: HERE
Betsey Johnson Watch: Similar HERE

Friday night for Tristan and I usually consists of date night. It's a tradition we started when we got married and one that I am happy we have kept up. It's the perfect way to end the week by spending time together and trying out a new restaurant! This last weekend we tried out Plate in Brookside. It's been on my list for awhile and it was SO good. It's a farm-to-table restaurant and all the ingredients were so fresh and from local farmers. I highly recommend it!

When I saw this dress at H&M, I couldn't decide if it was really cute- or looked more like a curtain. Once I brought it home and jazzed it up with some cute shoes and accessories I ended up loving it! I think it will look really cute with booties this Fall, too. What do you guys think- cute or curtain-ish?

P.S. I'm not used to posing for pictures by myself. I find it quite awkward, but I'll work on it. Until then, enjoy my awkward pictures ;) Thanks to my husband for being my photographer and only making fun of me a little!
